What is Meditation? Short Answer:
Meditation is a means to knowing self.
What is Meditation? Medium-Sized Answer:
Meditation is any practice or non-practice, guided or unguided that enables one to do any number of things, including— relax, heal, discover self, deepen one’s experience, transcend, or experience awakening or enlightenment.
What is Meditation? Longer Answer:
Anything can be meditative. Life expresses itself in so many forms. We as a species are one of these expressions. Life is what we all have in common. All forms of life share the same source. This source is what unifies us. Connecting to source is the same as connecting to one’s deepest self. This is the self that is sought through meditation. Connecting to our basic nature is what enables us to relax, heal, and more deeply know who we are. This is why meditation remains so attractive to so many people around the world.

My name is Benjamin. I write the material for this blog. I am behind all forms of meditation. As far as I am concerned, anything that helps us achieve the short answer above, is a good thing. People are diverse, and so different things work for different people.
Whether you are new to meditation or have been doing it for years, the “problem” remains the same—getting closer to self—knowing self more—until you feel that you know yourself fully, if this is even possible. But the details of the ways, benefits, methods and “how to” of meditation is where things begin to expand into an infinite number of interpretations and offerings.
One of the most exciting new developments here on this blog is— Meditation Interviews. People meditate in so many different ways. What better way to get a glimpse of how meditation can work for you than to read about the personal experiences of others.
If you have had success through meditation, regardless of the form, please consider doing a Meditation Interview by Email. Sharing your experience encourages others.
