—An Interview with Michelle Wood, Part Seven—
Go to Part One of Michelle Wood’s Interview—
Shamanic Healing Practices, Healing Energy Meditations
Meditation How: What a wealth of information. It is exciting to hear of your understanding of how Qigong postures and movements are linked to Chinese medicine practices. This interview has been illuminating for me in so many ways. Thank you so much for mindfully sharing so much. I feel that this discussion has touched on many things and is coming to an end. I would, however, like to offer you the opportunity to add anything else you would like to offer to readers before we draw it to a close.
Michelle: We all are a wealth of information, and have a great capacity to share our wisdom with others. Thank you for this opportunity to share what I know with interested people. I have enjoyed the things you have shared during this interview, too. The only thing I would like to add is that I believe there is great spiritual, emotional, and physical value in taking the time to cultivate the spirit-mind-body connection with dedication and self-discipline the old-fashioned way- that is by taking the time to do it regularly. There are many fine products on the market that promise “instant” ability or “meditation secrets” that will promote deep levels of meditation. However meditation is not about how fast or how deep you can do it. Like most of life- dare I say the best things in life- it’s a process of achievement and appreciation for the journey that took you there.
About Michelle: Michelle Wood is a meditation and qigong instructor, and a spirit healer and counselor who helps you Create Health, enabling you to reverse chronic physical illness and emotional damage most often caused by anxiety and stress. She specializes in the healing power of sound through the practices of qigong, chakra toning, and identifying and using your personal sound tone. She also uses a form of meditation called Affirmation Meditation.
These practices strengthen and support your self-healing capabilities, enabling you to bring your spirit, mind, and body back into harmony and health. (Remember what 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner Albert Schweitzer (theologian, musician, philosopher, and physician) said: “It’s a trade secret, but I’ll tell you anyway. All healing is self-healing.”) After raising her son, Michelle worked for twelve years in classrooms with Special Education and emotionally disturbed students in both public and private schools. In private life, her holistic lifestyle has included over ten years of teaching workshops and hosting group practices in meditation and qigong.
Michelle publishes her own “Creative Health” newsletter in print and video, and posts regularly to her health and wellness blogs. Since 2006 she has been an associate editor and regular columnist for “Qi Dao,” the newsletter published by the World Institute for Self Healing where she helps hundreds of people tune in to the mind-body healing connection.
Standing post meditation qigong helped me beat four bouts of supposedly terminal bone lymphoma in the early nineties. I used it as an adjunct to chemotherapy. It calmed my mind, energized my body, and empowered my will to withstand the onlslaught of two bone marrow transplants. Clear 14 years and still practicing.
It is a great aid to stress release and helps me manage the pain in my skeleton left by the bone cancer.

Bob Ellal
